The last much-lauded redesign of the Dodge Ram 1500 was in the 2010 model year, and it included a link-coil rear suspension (among other changes) that wowed industry observers. The latest design of the 2019 Dodge Ram will have Brampton, Mississauga and Toronto drivers lining up to get a better look.  In fact, it’s available for sale at our showroom right now, and you can arrange a test drive with our New Car Manager, Robbie, by calling 905-625-8801. There’s much to share in terms up upgrades.

Leading the pack is the crew-cab option with an increase in bumper-to-bumper length of 3.9 inches, enhancing passenger comfort. The wheelbase has also been stretched by 4.1 inches, expanding the crew cab interior. Rear legroom gets a boost to an impressive 45.2 inches. The Dodge Ram 1500 used to lag behind competitors in this detail, but the new, roomier crew cab is a game changer you’ll want to experience in person.

The old stereotype of pickups as purely rural utility vehicles is long gone, and drivers in the GTA want what the 2019 Dodge Ram delivers: a good-looking truck with a classy-looking interior comprised of quality materials. On the new model, even the rotary shift looks good and integrates nicely with other related functions. Bump it all up with a fourth-generation Uconnect system that can easily be paired with an 8-inch touchscreen or the even bigger 12-inch and you’ll probably catch yourself finding ways to stay on the road a little longer. Uconnect delivers crisp graphics and speedy touch response: less squinting, less struggle to access helpful apps and tools. It functions smoothly using Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and Dodge Ram engineers have listened to drivers, adding multiple USB and micro USB input ports.

Dodge Ram engineers have offset the extra length with a steering gearbox that’s 15 percent quicker, meaning driver efficiency is boosted even if the U-turn radius is reduced slightly. There’s a winning adjustment everywhere you look on the 2019 Dodge Ram 1500. And here’s one that may not catch your eye even when you’re standing on our lot beside this beauty: an auto-retracting front spoiler. Drive under 35mph and it stays tucked up out of the way. Over that velocity, the spoiler drops a full 2.5 inches. Why is this so awesome? Smoothed-out airflow and better fuel economy. Those of you opting for the Dodge Ram 1500 with optional air suspension that raises or lowers the truck as needed won’t have or need this feature, but the rest of us can still benefit from the added spoiler.

Engine output stats from the 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 (305 horsepower, 269 pound-feet of torque) and 5.7-liter Hemi V8 (395 hp, 410 lb-ft) are unchanged at first glance, but both have been greatly enhanced by the added-on eTorque mild hybrid system and its 48-volt lithium-ion battery tucked behind the driver’s seat. No, the Dodge Ram 1500 hasn’t magically turned into a Prius. You’ll still have your 8-speed automatic transmission, giving you the same great drive or better. eTorque enhancements come standard on the Pentastar V6 and optional on the Hemi V8.

The 2019 Dodge Ram 1500 has lost weight, too, dropping about 225 pounds. A full hundred pounds of that reduction came off the fully redesigned frame. Engineers retained the 98% high-strength steel alloy and optimized the cross-sectional shape of the frame members, while expanding aluminum use on the tailgate, engine mounts, front axle housing, steering gear and on two frame crossmembers for added fuel economy. If towing is on your chore list: the max payload and tow ratings of the purpose-equipped versions have increased to 2,300 pounds and 12,700 pounds, respectively.

Off-roaders can choose between the Rebel and a new 4x4 Off-Road package. Each of these adds an inch of height compared to the regular Dodge Ram 1500, and both use a lifted version of the coil spring suspension instead of an air-suspension system. Locking rear differentials and hill descent control come on both; the Rebel has a tough front end, extra clearance, 33-inch tires, and the option of air suspension.
