Toronto, Mississauga and Brampton, we all like to keep our loved ones as safe as possible, in a world that doesn’t always feel very safe. Jeep has long-held a reputation for safety and the 2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee is no exception. New and standard for all 2019 Grand Cherokee models is Blind-Spot Monitoring with Rear Cross Path detection. Options include Forward Collision Warning with Active Braking that uses video sensors to alert you when you are following too close to the vehicle in front of you. Also available is Lane Departure Warning with Lane Keep Assist that will warn you when you’re getting too sleepy to drive and are drifting out of your lane.
The available Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop and Go keeps an eye on the road ahead and regulates your speed, helping you maintain a safe distance between your precious cargo and the vehicle in front of you. If you’re stuck in stop-and-go traffic on the 401, this feature will bring your Grand Cherokee to a complete stop behind the vehicle stopped in front of you. It will then prompt you to tap the accelerator or resume button when traffic starts to move again.
While Jeep is keeping you and your family safe, it also delivers some fun tech items to keep you amused while you’re taking up your allotted chunk of space in gridlock. All Grand Cherokee models boast the latest version of Uconnect’s 8.4-inch touchscreen and navigation system, featuring higher resolution and pinch and zoom-capability and a nine-speaker audio system with active noise cancellation. Also standard are Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
There are seven available trims: Trailhawk, Trackhawk, Overland, Laredo, Limited, Summit and SRT. The Grand Cherokee Limited X offers unique front and rear fascia, Granite Crystal exterior accents, 20-inch low-gloss Granite Crystal aluminum wheels and a performance hood. The Overland trim gets 20-inch Heritage wheels, while the Summit models get unique 20-inch wheels.
Three new paint colors include Slate Blue Pearl, Green Metallic and Sting-Grey.
The 2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee is powered by a 3.6L Pentastar V6, producing up to 295 HP and 260 lb-ft of torque. Drivers can also opt for a 5.7L V8 (360 HP, 390 lb-ft of torque). The SRT model comes with a 6.4L V8 (475 HP, 470 lb-ft of torque), while the speedier Trackhawk is powered by a 6.2L supercharged V8 (707 H, 645 lb-ft of torque).
There are five drive modes to choose from on the Trackhawk and SRT, allowing them to modify performance based on surface and driving situations: Auto, Track, Snow, Sport and Tow. The different modes adjust the four-wheel drive system, stability, control, suspension, paddle shifters and steering to meet the needs of road and driver.
If saving fuel at red lights is important to you, all models except the SRT offer stop-start technology.
Standard on the Cherokee is the TorqueFlite 8-speed transmission, as well as the Quadra-Drive II with a rear Electronic Limited Slip Differential.
