The excitement is building for the 2021 full redesign of the Jeep Grand Cherokee! It’s the first time since 2010 that the Grand Cherokee is in for a full makeover and the media spies are out in full force trying to keep ahead of the scanty available information. Here’s what we do know, Brampton, Oakville and Burlington:

  • The next generation Jeep Grand Cherokee will be bigger than the 2019 model
  • It will ride on the Alfa Romeo’s Giorgio platform
  • The 2021 Grand Cherokee will go on sale at the end of 2020
  • It boasts a longer wheelbase and rear overhand, offering more interior space and cargo room
  • Intrepid journalists witnessed slim taillights and the iconic Jeep seven-slot grille
  • We are expecting some exciting changes to the exterior, but the interior could receive a bigger redesign—and may include the 12.0-inch touchscreen from the Ram 1500
  • We are also expecting more luxury, more tech and driver-assist features
  • Underneath, we can see that the Grand Cherokee will continue with the independent rear suspension
  • Rumor has it the Grand Cherokee’s base engine will be the Wrangler’s turbocharged 2.0-litre inline-four hybrid
  • Mid-range choice will likely be the new Pentastar V6 with e-Torque hybrid-assist system
  • We expect the Hemi V8 will be the top option, with the potential for the e-Torque version to be the only one offered—this would give the Grand Cherokee an all-hybrid lineup
  • Rumor has it the plug-in hybrid will follow in a few years

If FCA is working on a new turbocharged inline-six engine it could appear as a high-end option in the Cherokee

We’re expecting the big reveal to take place in the first half of 2020.  Stay tuned!
