The Golden Age of Chrysler Has Returned!
Alert, alert this urgent message is brought to you, the Dodge Challenger enthusiasts in the Brampton, Oakville, Mississauga, Toronto, Peel and Burlington areas! Before I sing its praises I must share with you a hot tip. The Challenger 50th Anniversary Edition is always available at Ontario Chrysler. Only 25 of them are allocated for all of Canada and we Ontario Chrysler constantly carry them through client trade ins.
Phew! Now that excitement is over, allow me to enlighten you about wonderful aspects of this new and improved take on a classic first put on display at the Los Angeles Auto Show. It may have first been shown in the glitzy atmosphere of California but in fact all Dodge Challengers will be built in Brampton, but I digress.
This golden anniversary automobile will be available on the Scat Pack 392 Shaker model however it will be limited to only 70 units in Canada (they will be marked as “x out of 70) so act fast friends. North of the boarder the Canadian producers have appropriately selected a Go Mango paint job in reverence to the Challengers original colour when it was introduced in 1970, but this time round there will be less side-burns and more luxury!
You may break out the bell bottoms to hear that the retro chic continues with the steering wheel, instrument panel, startup screens, gauge faces, seat backs, door bolsters and floor mats. And if we are talking under the hood there is “SHAKER” under-hood decal, which is also a nod to the original 1970 Challenger. This body-colour Shaker Hood is fully functional with a Mopar cold-air intake, conical air filter and optimized air box for better airflow and performance. And lets face it, the 6.2-litre naturally aspirated engine (OHV V8 with 485 hp and 475 lb/ft of torque) certainly doesn’t hurt. Neither does the eight-speed TorqueFlite automatic transmission, which can be standard or a six-speed heavy-duty Tremec manual with power to the rear wheels.
From this exciting new edition you can anticipate smooth black Nappa leather seats that are heated as well as ventilated, and the suede Alcantara seats with the added touch of the Sepia stitching. Not to mention the genuine carbon fibre accents, intriguing gauge cluster and to top it of the 50th 2020 Challenger Anniversary Edition logo imprinted all over the interior. Drooling yet? What if I told you that the Challenger SRT Hellcat and Hellcat Redeye models will also be branded with the 50th Anniversary badge? Well, I just did.
To keep this classic steady on the road The Scat Pack 392 is decked out with four-piston Brembo brakes, one for each corner, 20-inch-by-9.5-inch wheels, high performance suspension, steering wheel-mounted paddle shifters (automatic transmission). SRT Performance Pages with drive modes and Line Lock activates the front brakes to keep the vehicle, but allows the rear wheels to burnout, heat and clean the rear tires. The other amazing feature is the special alloy wheels loaded with performance tires and painted in “Gold School” and Brembo brake calipers in a gunmetal colour.
