2020 Jeep Gladiator & Ram 1500 Won Awards | Toronto, Mississauga
It’s a Good Day to be a Truck!

It is indeed the season of giving and right now the automotive industry is certainly following suit. At the 10th Annual Hispanic Motor Press (HMPA) held at the 2019 Los Angeles Auto Show. Two very lucky trucks were acknowledged as two of the best new trucks on the market. The Ram 1500 drove away with the award for the best pick up truck and the all-new 2020 Jeep Gladiator garnered the top spot in the Adventure 4X4 segment of the competition. Now lucky drivers in Brampton, Barrie, Oakville, Mississauga, Toronto, Peel and Burlington can say they have purchased a real winner from their local Chrysler dealership.
The standards for pickup trucks have changed over the year to require luxury as well as power, comfort as well as practical improvements in the way they drive, tow and get you where you need to go. For instance president and founder Ricard Rodriguez-Long said that HMPA selected the Ram 1500 for the best pick up truck award because it really lead the way in design improvements geared toward comfort using luxurious materials. They have also been at the leading edge of technology and modern innovation.
How, might you ask, does The Annual Hispanic Motor Press Foundation ensure an expert evaluation to determine who the recipients should be? Well, with experts for starters. Over 20 automotive experts that include national Hispanic journalists, content creators, and individuals who assess the vehicles to identify considering key elements required for Hispanic families in terms of quality, reliability, style, safety, and value. They select the top ten vehicles for the everyday Hispanic family that from a verity of categories. In each category one vehicle is picked that possesses the top value in the market for these families. Both the Ram and the new Gladiator were evaluated for important elements like safety, design, economy, comfort, functionality, handling, performance, driver satisfaction and value as well as the proper environmental requirements.
While Rodriguez-Long considers Ram trucks the top choice for working professionals not just because of their capability but now their simultaneous luxury. He also sings praises for the 2020 Jeep Gladiator and the unique edge it has in the market of adventure vehicles. Similar to the Ram 1500 he feels that the 2020 Jeep does not sacrifice comfort as an agile truck that is fully capable of transporting their drivers through their active life style as well as their on-road escapades.
These two vehicles have tons of features to admire so lets get nitty-gritty. The Ram 1500 has features that were not previously available on a Ram. Of course they lead the industry in terms of durability, efficiency, convenience as well as its technological features such as the Uconnect 4C with a large 12-inch touch screen using a split-screen as well as a 360-degree camera to keep an eye on things. In addition the Ram 1500 sports an active safety security system, adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning, blind spot monitoring and ready alert braking. I feel safer just thinking about it!
In terms of other specs The Ram carries off 12,750 lbs. of towing capacity (5.7-liter HEMI V-8) and a payload capacity of 2,300 lbs. It has an eTorque hybrid system, which has improved the fuel efficiency for both the V-6 and V-8. The handling is dreamy thanks to the class-exclusive link-coil rear suspension system with optional Active-level four-corner air suspension. The 2020 Ram 1500 can also claim twice the interior storage capacity compared to the competition.
The 2020 Jeep Gladiator, like its rugged predecessors drives the open-air off-road trek with ease, customary Jeep style, utility, functionality and versatility. The towing capacity has made the Gladiator the best in its class. It comes an amazing cargo box and is available in three different powertrain combinations. It has all the amazing things we have come to expect from a Jeep combined with the perks of a truck.
In terms of technology the 2020 Jeep Gladiator is accompanied by new features including Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and safety features like Blind-spot Monitoring, Rear Cross Path detection, adaptive cruise control and Forward Collision Warning-Plus. This vehicle is also stamped with the Trail Rated distinction. All Gladiator are identified as Trail Rated vehicle, so we can expect the Jeep Gladiator to perform in the same way. This vehicle has been rising up to some challenging off-road conditions such as a need for traction, ground clearance, manoeuvrability, articulation and water fording.
The Gladiator Rubicon models sport the signature red tow hooks, Rock-Trac® 4x4 system with a two-speed transfer case. They have a 4:1 low-range gear ratio, front and rear heavy-duty Dana 44 axles, Tru-Lok® electric front- and rear-axle lockers, unique electronic sway bar disconnect, cab and bed rock rails and the customary 33-inch Falken Wildpeak All-Terrain off-road tires.
