2020 Jeep Wrangler Gladiator Pickup Truck | Toronto, Mississauga

550 × 367

Big news for truck lovers who speak Jeep in Brampton, Oakville, Toronto and Mississauga! The new Wrangler Pick up will be launched Nov 28 at the Los Angeles Auto Show. We’d all anticipated the Scrambler, but as it happens, this bouncing baby is known as the Gladiator. What could be more appropriate? Makes you want to hop a plane to LA to see her in person, doesn’t it? If that's not possible, relax and enjoy these details that we have for you.

What do we know about the 2020 Jeep Wrangler pickup?
True, details are a bit scarce. FCA loves a little drama, a little build-up. What we do know: the Gladiator retains the removable roof and doors of the JL Wrangler, signalling a true Jeep product. Along with a soft-top, two hard-top designs will be available. The always-groovy windshield will still fold down to give you that total outdoorsy vibe. The carmaker promises dozens of door, top and windshield combinations to choose from. These opportunities to make your Jeep true to your own style and needs just keep coming, it seems.
Powertrain options will follow the JL Wrangler line, offering the choice of either a 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 or possibly the 3.0-liter EcoDiesel V6, available in 2020. Both engine options can be paired with an eight-speed automatic, while only the gasoline option can accept the six-speed manual. Powertrains will also be identical to the Wrangler, with the venerable 3.6-liter, 285-horsepower Pentastar V-6 available at launch time coupled up with an eight-speed automatic or a sweet six-speed manual. The much-anticipated 3.0-liter diesel engine won't turn up till 2020, but the Gladiator will tow 7,650 pounds and haul 1,600 pounds in its modest five-foot steel bed. It just may be the best in the midsize pickup class.
On the hardware front, everything that makes the JL Wrangler such a dreamy off-road ride turns up in the Jeep Gladiator—albeit in a longer package. You can look forward to solid Dana axles front and back with available locking differentials, an optional electronic sway-bar disconnect, and fording capability up to 30 inches of water. Regular Gladiator models will have Jeep's Command-Trac four-wheel-drive system, while the legendary Rubicon (yes!!!) gets a leg up with an advanced Rock-Trac setup, as well as forward-facing off-road cameras.
What do you think of the name-switch, truck fans? I have to admit, I’d rather drive a Gladiator than a Scrambler, which sort of reminds me of that midway ride that used to make my dad turn a really weird green colour. Gladiator says here I come, GTA. And if the leaked pics and specs are anything to go on, this Wrangler JL in pick-up form will be good to go on the 400 series highways, city streets and anywhere up in the back country you decide to take her.
