Back to the Future
Up until now the Jeep Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer have been close to fiction. Somewhat like the DeLorean in Back to The Future, which incidentally can actually be viewed at the Petersen Automotive Museum in Los Angeles. Unlike the DeLorean however the 2022 Jeep Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer have not been available to be inducted into the halls of automotive history…yet. Yes that’s right! Come 2021 these mysteries could be unveiled and ready for viewing in the Brampton, Barrie, Oakville, Mississauga, Toronto, Peel and Burlington locations.
You may have to chomp a little more of the bit until then as what we can glimpse now is still literally obstructed from view. In the first photographic evidence of it the Jeep Wagoneer (photo credit motor1.com) is draped tightly as not to reveal much detail. What we know is this, this fantastical new model in the first stealth photos shows it to have a boxy shape but the headlights and grille are completely hidden. However it is styled after the Ram 1500 so it is safe to assume it could be very much like this.
- 6-liter V6 along with the V6 paired with Ram’s 48-volt
- Mild-hybrid system.
- 7-liter V8 should also propel the Jeep Wagoneer.
- 3 different models being entry-level, standard and upscale.
Upon arrival the standard three-row 2022 Jeep will go head to head or grille to grille with the likes of the Ford Expedition and GMC Yukon. The 2022 Grand Wagoneer however will be squaring off will prove its metal against the Lincoln Navigator and Land Rover Range Rover, and you can expect the pricing of both 2022 Jeep Wagoneers to be competitive. For more sneak peaks of the future we can look to the past and the kinds of rumors that have been circulating for years. All I’ll say is it’s about time McFly! The fact that the Jeep was earmarked to be one of the big three-row Jeeps since at the very least 2011 by Fiat Chrysler Automobiles, when the Grand Wagoneer sped to the scene to muscle out the Jeep Commander. Then in 2014 The Grand Wagoneer threw its hat back in the ring, aiming for the 2018. We thought lightening had struck in 2017 when Fiat Chrysler Automobiles waved the flag but as 2018 drove out of sight there was still nothing to show for it.
The FCA has proved to be a little unpredictable, taking a few detours from the previously plotted road map but this time I think Jeep Wagoneer will make it to the present and perhaps appear for the first time at the Detroit Auto Show. You can keep an eye on them at Auto Blog, that features sneak peeks and live coverage straight from the North American International Auto Show floor with thousands of photos of new vehicles and concept car debuts. The Jeep Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer may have its debut sometime in the middle of 2020 so set your time machine so set your time machines to 2012 when both the Jeep Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer should be presented as models in that year.
I can’t tell you much more about the future than that but the forward trajectory that Jeep has taken its loyal and enthusiastic buyers has been electric! Therefore you can plan on great storm to touch down sometime soon in that future. Until then we must wait for fiction to become reality. So break out the popcorn, switch on Netflix, watch Marty and Doc navigate the uncertain road and look forward to good things to come.
