Toronto, Brampton, Barrie and Oakville, have you checked out the Ram Heavy Duty Laramie Longhorn, yet? It’s basically the truck equivalent of the toughest cowboy you’ve ever wrangled with, who happens to have silk-lined chaps. Why chafe, when you don’t need to? The Ram 2500/3500 is the perfect melding of brute-force tough and refined beauty. Because you don’t need to sacrifice one to have the other.

The interior boasts lots of brown leather and authentic wood trim. The door panels, armrests and dash are all covered with the leather and the wood nicely accents the dash, doors, console and steering wheel. The centre console, instrument panel, seats and door panel inserts feature an alligator skin-embossed surface. After dark, the cabin is bathed in a soothing, luxurious light, making your passengers feel like it’s more of an experience than just a ride home. Part of that soothing light is created by the 12.0-inch touchscreen that controls your sound, technology and climate control. The Laramie Longhorn has understandably earned the title Luxury Pickup Truck of Texas from the Texas Auto Writers Association for the third year running. Make sure you invite yourself to the party, by taking one out for a test drive.

On the outside, the Laramie Longhorn sets itself apart from the other guys with a chrome-slat grille and header surrounding the superior LED headlamps and Adaptive Front-lighting System. Standard on the Laramie Longhorn are chrome bumpers, tow hooks, wheel flares and side-steps. Optional are two-tone color RV Match Walnut Brown bumpers, flares and lower panels.

Under the hood, Ram out-powers, out-tows and out-hauls every other pickup in its class, with 1000 lb-ft of torque, 35,100 lbs towing and 7,680 lbs of payload. Although the Ram Heavy Duty pickup is the first to break the 1,000 lb-ft barrier and the first to tow more than 35,000 lbs, it does not sacrifice comfort and handling to do so. Ram Heavy Duty trucks have a standard five-link coil suspension, an optional air suspension on the 2500 and an optional supplemental air bag suspension on the 3500 that offer a better ride than the other guys.

“The new Ram Heavy Duty sets benchmarks in ride and handling, luxury materials, innovation and technology, extending well past competitive offerings,” said Reid Bigland, head of Ram brand. “Yet as hard-working, heavy-duty trucks, the Ram 2500 and 3500 give maximum effort all day, every day, with confidence.”
