RAM Trucks Chosen as Top Non-Luxury Brand in J.D. Power Survey

When you think about purchasing a vehicle, do you
consider Automotive Performance, Execution, and Layout? Many people do, and
that's why, for 18 years now, J.D. Power and Associates has compiled its APEAL
survey to measure the vehicles most highly rated by owners 90 days after
purchase.

This year, 83,000 owners were polled in 77 categories
about their new vehicles, and they rated them on a 1,000-point scale. This
year, a large emphasis was put on how tech features affect how appealing drivers
find a vehicle.

Surveys like this are very important because they
let automakers know exactly how consumers feel about their products. As David
Sargent, vice president of global automotive at J.D. Power, explains, "One
percentage point of loyalty is worth tens or even hundreds of millions of
dollars to automakers. These companies are fighting for every last customer,
and it is clear that appealing products remain the key to achieving
this."1

The organization claims that 64 percent of owners
whose vehicle scared 100 or more points above the average vehicle in their
segment decide to purchase another vehicle from the same brand in the future.
When the rating is under 100, that goes down to 55 percent. Owners of vehicles
with higher scores also spend almost $2k more on new vehicles.
