The New 2018 Jeep Cherokee | Toronto, Mississauga
Change is good, as the saying goes, and the beloved Jeep Cherokee is up for a few enticing tweaks in 2018. Industry spies say the chief competitor of the Audi Q5 and BMW X3 will soon reveal a brand-new look, while retaining that classic rough and ready vibe that longtime Jeep fans in Toronto and Mississauga have come to count on.
The makeover will likely include a significantly redesigned front end, though the iconic Cherokee seven-slat grille will remain. You really can’t mess with a legend, after all. It’s also rumoured that the new Cherokee will share some design notes from the new Jeep Compass. You can look forward to rounder, less angular headlights, new bumpers front and back, and an upturned lower portion on the front end. That off-road rep will be reflected in the overall exterior look, and word has it that the rear end of the vehicle will also undergo a revamp.
And if you’re worried about too many changes to that classic Jeep interior, rest easy, GTA drivers. The new 2018 Jeep Cherokee interior remains unchanged from the outgoing model. Do look for 21st century updates in the technology and connectivity departments, however. The Uconnect infotainment system will likely include the very popular Apple CarPlay and Android Auto options.
In terms of power, we’re quite certain that the 140 hp 2.0-litre and 185 hp 2.2-litre diesels will continue to be very popular. And the ample 3.2-litre gas engine will stick around for the Trailhawk model, everyone’s off-roading favourite. The Cherokee will always be a tough character, hanging onto that four-wheel drive and Jeep’s Selec-Terrain off-road system. Gas-electric hybrids are definitely coming, likely with the next generation of Jeep Wranglers and the plug-in Jeep Yuntu on the carmaker’s horizon. Jeep has pretty much mastered the art of staying classic while also embracing change.
