Your vehicle’s batteries should be regularly inspected to ensure that they don’t have any problems. Some of the recommended tools that can help you maintain and care for your batteries are:

Whenever you handle batteries in any capacity, make sure to wear goggles for your eye protection, gloves to protect your hands, and protective clothing to ensure your overall safety. It is important to take special care when checking batters to fix any problems before they become harmful.

To inspect your vehicle’s battery, first check its outside appearance and make sure there are no cracks anywhere in the container. The battery posts, connections and top of the battery should be free of all corrosion, fluids and dirt. If you see any fluids anywhere on or near the battery, electrolyte could be spilling out which indicates that the battery needs to be either repaired or completely replaced.

Once you have examined the outside of your battery, check its cables and everything connected to it, searching for any parts that appear damaged or loose. All battery cables must be intact since it can be very hazardous if any are frayed or broken. If a battery cable looks damaged, ensure it is replaced. The wiring connections should be tight to enable necessary contact with the terminals. When you tighten the wire connections make sure that you don’t overtighten them, since this can result in the meltdown or breakage of a post.
